Lee Perry Got Into The Groove!

When he first heard the music, Perry got right into the groove, mastered all the moves,  shuffle to music in the streets and arrested the beat. When Lee Perry's first went to Kingston after travelling from his little village port, he went about mixing with the local guys in Kingston and upon hearing the music that was produced by Duke Reid, Perry decided to offer his services to the Duke. This story has been told before of  the Duke's refusal in  hiring him. Lee Perry then went to say who he thought was the second best record produce. That second best record producer was Clement Dodd. From then on we have the Coxsone and Lee Perry association!

Perry's main job at Coxsone was mainly to scout around looking for potential recording artists. Toots and The Maytals was one of Perry's finding. That was years ago, Today Lee "scratch" Perry at the age of 76 is still producing records and still being sort after. On the 16th April 2011, Lee Perry presented  a new brand of music at the Ocean Club in Hackney, East London, United Kingdom performing live with "The Megatronics" and showcasing selected songs  from his forthcoming album "The End of an American Dream." Lee Perry had developed a new generation of music lovers!

Perry venture deep into contemporary urban music styles such as Hip Hop, and Funk no  reggae music, but a  different style of music. While on stage Perry announced  that he is no longer a mad man, instead, the most sane individual alive. Yet he had with him on stage a new electrifying band line-up that delivered the new groove to the audiences along with a few selection of Lee Perry tunes from his earlier recording classics. The show also  included videos and motion graphics by Julian Kirby. Supported by the  Extern Drum 'n' Bass act from Bristol with special guest appearances!
