To the Rastafarian; Emperor Haile Selassie is seen as the embodiment of God on Earth. The Rastafarian believer recognise the derivation of their religious conviction is of Judaism and Christianity while totally and vehemently rejecting "Babylon" and their double standards obtrusive reality. In the year of 1978 Bob Marley conceded to several events that year which brought an extraordinary significance to Bob as whole. In that year in the month of April Marley returned to Jamaica to play at the One Love Peace Concert to perform in front of Jamaica's prime minister; Michael Manley and the leader of the opposition, Edward Seaga! Plus the crowd of people that was present at the concert consisted of tens of thousands! Towards the end of the year Bob Marley and the Wailers toured some of the Africa countries. It was their first time on the soil of Africa. primarily going to Kenya and travel across the border to Ethiopia. Ethiopia is the Rastafarians spiritualism predicted by the founder of the Rastafarians institution; Non other than Mr. Marcus Garvey! That same year saw Bob Marley received the United Nation Medal of Peace. Bob Marley himself along with his band, The Wailers band was invited to Gabon as well. | | The event was not what Bob had expected it to be! He suffered deeply within himself a great deal of discontentment and disenchantment, Bob felt that the invitation was a fallacious farce, grouse impracticable! They wanted Bob Marley and the Wailers to performed only for the high ranking influential of Gabon: Bob Marley wasn't at all too pleased with the idea. Then came 1980, the Government of Zimbabwe officially invited Bob Marley to performed at the country’s ceremonial independence celebrations which was indeed the greatest honour ever bestowed upon Bob Marley and the Wailers. |
